Only The Very Best For Your Children
Live-In Nannies
Looking for a childcare provider to come and reside with you in your home? Live-in nannies are a great option and will provide you with all the support you need to help you look after your children, with accommodation, food and holidays provided alongside their agreed-upon salary.
What is a live-in nanny?
Live-in nannies are professional and experienced childcare providers who come to live with you in your home so that they can provide you with all the support you need where your children are concerned, helping to lighten the load and make juggling work and family life easier and more enjoyable for one and all.
Usually women (although male live-in nannies are also available), these professionals have a minimum of five years of relevant childcare experience and they typically have qualifications to back up their skills and give you greater peace of mind.
They are usually required to work full-time hours, between eight and 12 hours a day during the week, with babysitting services provided as required for a few nights each week (covered by their salary). If babysitting is required outside the weekday schedule, this can be arranged for an additional fee, discussed during the contract agreement stage.
What does a live-in nanny do?
Once hired, your live-in nanny will be responsible for all duties that concern your children based on your specific requirements.
This can include playtime, helping with bathtime and getting dressed, preparing food, organising playdates, taking them on outings such as to the park, going to baby classes and so on. Naturally, duties will largely depend on the age of the children and you can expect responsibilities to change over time as your little ones get older.
Cleaning and tidying are also usually included in the list of jobs, keeping play areas in an orderly fashion and ensuring that toys, games, books and so on are cleaned and put away at the end of each day.
You can also expect your nanny to help your children developmentally, encouraging them to learn through constructive playtime, creative projects like arts and crafts, reading and singing.
Note, however, that your live-in nanny will not be on hand to help with other household duties, such as cooking for the family, doing the ironing and other such chores that aren’t related to childcare. You can potentially arrange for such duties to be carried out during the contract agreement stage.
Should I hire a live-in or live-out nanny?
Whether you should hire a live-in or live-out nanny will largely depend on your requirements and what level of accommodation you’re able to provide.
Families with large houses and spare bedrooms may prefer to have their nanny onsite at all times, which can be incredibly convenient and help take the pressure off.
Another alternative if the provisions are there is to give your live-in nanny accommodation that’s separate from the main house, such as a guest house or garden room/annexe. This is a great option that many nannies actually prefer, because it gives them more private space and helps create a sense of separation between work and home life.
Live-out nannies, meanwhile, don’t reside with you in your home, instead coming over each day at an agreed-upon time to help you with your children.
Ultimately, the right path for you will depend on your specific circumstances and what it is you’re looking for. If you’d like to find out more, get in touch with the Nannies On Board team today.
