Only The Very Best For Your Children

Live-Out Nannies

Live-out nannies – also known as daily nannies – come to your home each day to look after
your children and fulfil a series of pre-arranged responsibilities, commuting from their own
accommodation rather than living in your house with you full time.

What is a live-out nanny?

As the name might suggest, live-out nannies provide you with all the help and support you need as a full-time nanny would, except they don’t live in your house with you. Typically, these childcare providers would work five days a week and for between eight to ten hours a day. Additional babysitting services can be included as part of the arrangement, as well.
Because these nannies have to travel to and from their own homes in order to work, there’s usually a pre-agreed start and finish time, with any additional hours then agreed upon in advance. This can make the contract less flexible than if you had a live-in nanny residing with you and helping you with the children.
However, live-out nannies are often flexible in their approach, as long as advance notice is given for extra hours of work and they’re either given time off in lieu or paid for these extra hours. This is something that can be discussed when the employment contract is being drawn up.

What does a live-out nanny do?

Ultimately, a live-out nanny will perform the same duties as a live-in nanny, helping to support you and your family, and giving you the freedom and flexibility to work and focus on other areas of your life while enjoying peace of mind that your children are being expertly taken care of.
Daily responsibilities will include the likes of feeding, weaning, bathing and dressing, potty training where necessary, cleaning and tidying the nursery and children’s rooms, doing the children’s laundry, organising playdates and day trips, and helping them developmentally as well through constructive playtime, reading, singing and creative pursuits like drawing and arts and crafts.
Unless otherwise agreed upon when the employment contract is being drawn up, live-out nannies will not help with other household tasks, including doing the ironing, cooking for the family and anything else that isn’t related to childcare.

Should I hire a live-out or a live-in nanny?

Whether a live-out or a live-in nanny is appropriate for you and your family will depend on your specific requirements and whether you’re able to provide the necessary accommodation for your childcare professional.
The duties of both types of childcare provider are typically the same, so the right choice will come down to your specific circumstances and how you run your household.
Whichever path you decide to go down, rest assured that your children will be expertly looked after and receive excellent care and support. If you’d like to find out more, get in touch with the Nannies On Board team today.
